A local comic book store, Astro-Zombies, teamed up with IDW Publishing and held a TMNT cover art contest. The artwork had to feature their storefront and all four Ninja Turtles. Although I didn't win, it was lots of fun to create. I haven't drawn these guys in over, well, it's been forever. This is what I came up with!!
ACE 2012 POST
ABQ Comic Expo was another success! We had a great time once again... can't wait for next year! It's great that Albuquerque keeps putting on such ambitious comic conventions. It is a truly great experience for local artists. Here are a couple of the hundreds of photos we took, enjoy!
ABQ COMIC EXPO
This weekend is the ACE... at the ABQ convention center. Stan Lee will be back, along with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes! I will have a booth in artist alley again this year... selling my 2 new prints, along with some old ones. Also, ACE picked my illustration for their Saturday badge in the Badge Smash contest. I'm looking forward to this weekend... it's going to be a blast!
NEW POSTERS FOR ACE!
Here are two new posters I've made for my booth at the 2012 Albuquerque Comic Expo (ACE). Both are 4 color limted edition prints. I'm looking forward to sharing them with attendees and fellow artists... very excited!!
NEW MEXICO BREWERS GUILD
Recently, the New Mexico Brewers Guild held a contest to design their new logo. The 10 participating artists were nominated to compete locally. THE SHINS POSTER CONTEST
The Shins are holding a "Design a Tour Poster" contest through creativeallies.com. The Shins will pick the overall winner, and that artist's design will be used as their upcoming tour poster! THE RAVEN
The KiMo Gallery invited 18 local Albuquerque artists to create work for "The Raven" exhibit. Each artist received a canvas board and one of the 18 stanzas from Edgar Allan Poe's poem. Each artist created a work of art on a horizontal format (18” x 24”) based on the stanza they received. I had the honor of painting the 17th stanza!
A silent auction was held for each piece. All proceeds went to "Friends For The Public Library" - Supporting the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Library System. The exhibit will run through March 25th. Click Here for more information.
CURSIVE - I AM GEMINI
For the last couple of months I’ve been working with, Omaha based band, Cursive. I had the pleasure of creating the artwork for their upcoming album “I Am Gemini” ... which was released on February 21st. I have illustrated the album artwork, liner note images, new t-shirt designs and the U.S. tour poster! All of these products are available for purchase at Saddle Creek Records. CURSIVE 2012 TOUR POSTER
This is the poster I designed for Cursive's 2012 Tour! I incorporated the characters and themes from most of the album artwork... and came up with a culmination of their concept story. This poster was printed by the amazing folks at Ink Tank Merch in Omaha, Nebraska. The band will have this poster, along with all the new merch, available for sale!

ALBUQUERQUE COMIC CON POST
ACC 2012 was a huge success. Thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors had a great time at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. There was a wide range of vendors, artists, events and celebrities in all comic, horror, sci-fi and anime genres. This event seems to be getting bigger and bigger... which is awesome for Albuquerque!
Our booth did very well this year. We sold lots of posters and t-shirts...and got to visit with local fans, actors and cosplayers!
We're already locked in, and will have a table in Artist Alley at ACE 2012... this summer at the ABQ Convention Center. It's in June, so I better get busy!

Albuquerque Comic Con is right around the corner. I will have a table in Artist Alley... and will be selling screen printed posters, t-shirts and a couple of art prints. "They're coming to get you Barbara" Needless to say, I am a huge George Romero "Dead" movie fanatic! I made this 3 color limited edition print for the 2012 Albuquerque Comic Con. Come by Artist Alley at the Con this weekend and pick up a poster... I'm in the process of making t-shirts too!
THE PORTER DRAW
This past weekend I printed my poster for Albuquerque based band, The Porter Draw. Their CD release party, for the new album "California Widow", will feature SuperGiant, Three String Bale and Mother Death Queen. The Porter Draw is an Americana band, with roots in bluegrass, country, and punk. I had a great experience working with them... and it's super awesome because they're from Albuquerque! DIA DE LOS MUERTOS
On October 30th, I participated in the Dia de los Muertos celebration at the South Broadway Cutural Center. The event was a mixture of art, live music, children's activities, food, vendors and most imporatntly... culture. There were well over 1,000 visitors that attended the gallery reception this year!
I was proud to hang my serigraph print (seen above) next to the work of such great local artists... including my very talented friends Jeremy Montoya, Albert Vasquez, John Bicknell and Lisa Rossignol.
Jeremy and I had a booth in the vendor area. We each designed and screen printed limited edition event posters. Along with the posters, we sold our new Muerto t-shirts and postcards...
We were also asked to participate in the juried alter contest. We created little muerto characters on wood blanks, using acrylic/mixed media... and dressed up our alter with screen printed streamers, flowers and art prints...
To our surprise... the Mexican Consulate of Albuquerque chose our alter for one of three awards given. Along with our award for "mas original alter" we received loaves of freshly baked pan dulce... delicious!!
THE ROCKY HORROR CAST
I was invited to the dress rehearsal performance of The Rocky Horror Show tonight. I delivered the cast poster I had made for the show. They really enjoyed them... happy Transylvanians! The show was amazing! A super talented cast, top notch set design and great music. Please check it out if you get a chance. (see theater info link in the post below)
THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW
UNM is putting on a production of The Rocky Horror Show this November. This show poster ia a 4 color limited edition of 30 for the cast, and 20 for the public. This is the first time I used two kinds of metallic inks in a poster; it was fun to make! For show ticket information click here
NM BREW FEST 2011
The 2nd Annual Brew Fest and Music Showcase is this weekend at Expo New Mexico. I was asked to do this design/poster for the event and the bands performing. You may have seen my beer maiden around town lately. I have printed a four color, limited edition of 50 posters for the event. They will also be doing live screen printing of my design on various t-shirts! Stop on by and pick up a poster or t-shirt... and...drink some great beer from local breweries!
